Courage is the most important of all
the virtues, because without courage you can't practice any other
virtues consistently. You can't be consistently kind or fair or
humane or generous, not without courage, because if you don't have
it, sooner or later you will stop and say, "The threat is too much.
The difficulty is ...too high. The challenge is too great. ~ Maya

Subject: TPIA 1737- transmittal to the report about TAKS
Dear Ms. Pharr,
I checked your request for TPIA 1723, and determined that
you requested the report only. A request for a
transmittal letter or email (if any) is a new request
and has been assigned TPIA request number 1737. I will
prepare and send you a new estimate of cost shortly.
Sincerely, Bernadette Gonzalez - Coordinator, Records and
Legal Services- Eanes Independent School District
I picked up one typed page today in response to the TPIA
request below. Surely, when Bill Bechtol sent that
typed page to the campus principals, he included a narrative
comment of some sort about the data. It is likely that
the page was attached to an email with narrative or some
sort of reporting or communication from Bill Bechtol to the
principals about the TAKS data. I find it unlikely that
this typed page was simply sent to the principals with no
explanation or narrative of any kind.
I believe that the responsive documents (to the request
below) should have provided Bill Bechtol's comments
regarding the page of typed TAKS data.
I request to inspect the report sent to campus principals
by Bill Bechtol regarding the TAKS results. See link
and excerpt (below) for clarification.
Pursuant
to the Texas Public Information Act, please provide all
responsive documents promptly. If any portion of the
requested information is confidential, please let me know so
that we can work together to avoid the cost and delay of an
OAG opinion ruling request.
Earlier last week, Bill Bechtol, Assistant
Superintendent to Curriculum and Instruction,
sent a report to campus principals with very
preliminary results that included
Limited English Proficient
students and special population students whose scores are
not counted in the Texas Accountability Rating System.
This report was intended for campus
personal [sic]for
planning purposes only.
